BudgetBuilder

[IOS/Android App]

BudgetBuilder Photo

A simple budgeting tool created to help you make a budget.

BudgetBuilder is a simple budgeting tool that allows the user to create a budget in just a few minutes and provide helpful information.

This app can be used by anyone who spends and receives money. BudgetBuilder is especially effective for those who have never tried making a personal budget.

The idea behind BudgetBuilder is to create an effective budget using the least amount of information to keep the budget creation process as simple as possible. This is what sets BudgetBuilder apart from other budgeting apps that can be intimidating or offputting due to requiring an "excessive" amount of information. Granted, those apps may be insanely accurate down to the last cent, but the definition of a budget is: "an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time."

Requires just a few key variables (information is kept 100% private to the device and is not shared in any way) such as:

  • If the user is paid hourly or with salary
  • How much the user is paid
  • If the user earns tips
  • Bills and Nonessential Expenses

BudgetBuilder's main menu provides helpful information such as how many hours the user will need to work in order to meet their monthly total, or if paid by salary then how much money is needed or leftover after the monthly total is applied to the monthly budget.

BudgetBuilder's Compare page provides helpful information such as the totals, percentages, and frequencies of bills, nonessentials, savings, and tips.

BudgetBuilder is based off of the budget-making process I used for myself when I first got a job; I have used this process ever since.

Disclaimer: I am not a financial expert by any means. This app does not tell you what you should do, but rather provides you with all of the information (I) deemed necessary to help you make financial decisions. What you do with the information the app provides is up to you. Ideally, you would use BudgetBuilder to form your own personalized budget; however, BudgetBuilder can be used as a sole means of budgeting.

Where2Eat

[Android App]

Where2Eat Photo

An app invented to help you decide where you should go out to eat.

If you have ever been unsure of where you want to go out to eat then this app was created for you!

To use Where2Eat enter a name, select a country (there are 9 country options including "OTHER" which uses all 229 restaurants in the app!), select your favorite restaurants from your country, select where you have "recently" eaten at and you're done creating a profile!

Once a profile is created, you will be presented with the Where2Eat button and 3 preference toggle buttons: "Expensive", "Breakfast Mode", and "Fast Food". There are 7 different combinations for the preference toggle buttons. When your preferences have been selected, you press the Where2Eat button and the Where You Should Eat (W.Y.S.E) algorithm will determine where you should eat next based off of your favorite restaurants, where you have recently eaten at, and your selected preferences.

When a restaurant option is presented there is a "Yes" and "No" button. If you select the "Yes" button, the restaurant will be added to your history, and you will be prompted with a popup asking if you would like to open your maps app. If you select yes to this maps prompt, your maps app will search that restaurant for you. If you don't want to eat at the restaurant the W.Y.S.E. algorithm picked, then you can press the "No" button and all available options that fit your preferences will be cycled through each time you press no. Once the W.Y.S.E. algorithm runs out of options your history will be sorted through as well.

Have a favorite restaurant that's not in the app? Where2Eat has an "Add a Custom Restaurant" feature where you can add any restaurant to the app!

Where2Eat allows you to create multiple profile that you can switch between! This feature allows you to create a profile for groups of people. If you create a profile called YouAndI and only selected both of our favorite restaurants, then only restaurants you and I both like will be used by the W.Y.S.E. algorithm.

Where2Eat has a settings menu where even more customization for the app can be changed to your liking. Where2Eat also has a help button in the menu (top left button with three lines) further explaining how the app works.

Where2Eat will receive updates as I think of new ways to improve the user experience, and as I receive permission to use restaurant logos.
